Winter is a magical time in the Upper Peninsula. The Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast is located on the Upper Peninsula snowmobile trail providing easy access. Cross-country ski trails abound and downhill skiing is available in Gladstone, Marquette, Iron Mountain and many other area hills. The ice fishing is fabulous on the Bay while ice skating, snowshoeing and ice racing are also popular.
Springtime brings the best of both worlds to the Upper Peninsula. The bright sunshine and cool nights mean great spring skiing, smelt fishing and maple syrup in March. The woodland flowers start to appear in April and May before the leaves of the trees block out the precious rays of light!
Summer is the time for meadow flowers, fresh berries and summer activities. The Escanaba and Gladstone area provide a wide variety of summer festivals and gatherings. July also means strawberries fresh picked from the neighbors farm, raspberries and wild blueberries. Aunt Rita is known for her blueberry prowess, but if you want to accompany her to the secret spot you'll need to wear a blindfold! Late August brings apples and chokecherries, wild along the roads for everyone to enjoy. Don't forget to fill up at the U.P. State Fair with corn dogs and caramel apples and join us for the fishing tournaments!
Fall is at its finest in the Upper Peninsula. The sunny days and cool nights make for some of the most beautiful days of the year. The apple crops reach their peak and the pumpkins are getting ready for Halloween. This area is known for the amazing fall colors and color tours are abundant in early October. November brings in hunters hoping to catch their quarry.
